ONLINE COMMUNITY (LISTSERV)

ONLINE COMMUNITY (LISTSERV)

The perfect tool for exchanging ideas, solving problems, sharing solutions, and discussing issues.

You will automatically be signed up with the Golden Gate Chapter Online Community, hosted by our International ALA platform. Please go to Meet Your Online Community (alanet.org) for the how-to video for our Online Community. You will need your ALA International username and password to access the Association of Legal Administrators website. If you need assistance accessing our online Community, don't hesitate to contact the ALA-HQ Membership team at [email protected]. Thank you for your vital participation in the ALA Online Community. Your involvement is appreciated and encouraged!

This is a service available only to our active Chapter members.

  1. Do not discuss anything that states money or amounts that could be construed as anti-trust issues.  Salaries, compensation, fees, and such are not acceptable topics for our listserve.
  2. ALA cannot endorse vendors or service providers of any sort.  If you ask for information about these types of businesses, the sender's responses should be considered personal referrals and not be construed as a Chapter endorsement.
  3. If you want to look at these e-mails only periodically and don’t want them to pop up constantly, create a folder in your e-mail system for the listserve and a rule that forwards all e-mails from the list service.  This will allow you to check these periodically when convenient for you.
  4. Try to word your requests so that people aren’t inclined to send you a simple Yes or No answer unless that is the information you need.  For example: a question can be worded as: Does anyone use a dictionary? OR If you use a dictionary, which one works for you?  By using the latter way, those of us, who don’t use a dictionary, won’t send an e-mail to everyone saying "No."

This Chapter:  Golden Gate discussion board was created to provide timely communications about the Chapter and for Chapter members.  Let us know if there are other ways we can improve our communication with this tool.
