The Leadership & Management Section is presenting Understanding Your Communication Style. Understanding how we naturally communicate and learning to shift how we communicate are keys to not only functioning well in the workplace, but having more pleasant days as well. In this workshop, we will use the DiSC model to identify our own default communication style and gain a basic understanding of how others communicate in order to flex our style for maximum efficacy and build stronger teams. The DiSC profile is a non-judgmental tool used for discussion of an individual’s communication and behavioral preferences. The first 13 registrants will fill out an online questionnaire two weeks before the workshop and receive their personalized DiSC Workplace Profile in class.  The profile provides a comprehensive explanation of your style, preferences, motivators, and stressors. Additional registrants will be able to fill out a brief online questionnaire to identify their DiSC type and fully participate in the workshop.

Our speakers are Janice Weekes and Jessica Natkin. Janice Weekes is a certified trainer in the DiSC Assessment Tool, working with individuals and teams to improve their communications and effectiveness. Before launching her consulting business, Level Up Professional Development, Janice was the Manager of Professional Development at Wilson, Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C., a leading technology law firm in Silicon Valley.  Jessica (Jessie) Natkin works to integrate talent development processes including performance reviews, work allocation, associate career development planning, coaching, mentoring, and flexible work to make total talent solutions that work for law firms, legal departments, and their lawyers and professional staff.  With the unique educational combination of a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law and a graduate certificate in career development, Jessie has coached hundreds of lawyers and legal professionals in Big Law and beyond. Prior to founding Total Talent Design, Jessie was the Director, Attorney Career Development at Fenwick & West LLP.
